There is no escaping the fact that 2021 was (still) not a normal year, and I am not sure any year will ever be exactly comparable to the Before Times. There is too much residual self-care going on for that. And yet, and yet … it was a pretty good year, and I say that knowing full well how privileged I am. I share a pleasant space with a person who is the love of my life and my best friend, we eat well, and want for nothing. We got our vaccinations and boosters, we were able to travel a bit, within Italy, and we stayed healthy throughout. So, much to be thankful for and to appreciate.
Getting used to the new computer was a delight, mostly. Some issues remain, notably with the lack of ports and the number of external things I need, but overall great joy. The speed of the thing often makes me think it has read my mind. Excellent downtime too, after the usual, hectic, we-must-have-it-by-the-end-of-the-year rush. Boosted too, which is nice.
Without a doubt, the big news of the month was the arrival of my new computer, an M1 iMac. OK, so it took more than a week to get it going properly, largely because I was in too much of a hurry at the start, but I’m loving it now. At the end of the month I flew in a plane, again.
Everyone is keen to spend their budget before the end of the year, and who am I to argue. It has bitten into my fun time, but not completely. I fixed my podcast scrobbling script, and ordered a new computer.
Back to working for money a bit this month, although on a slightly reduced scale. Back to editing podcasts again too, which is greatly satisfying. Back to my regular HIIT schedule. And, completing the Yankee, back to baking bread in bulk.
